Rosewood Courts was originally built in 1939 as segregated public housing in East Austin. For over 80 years, Rosewood has housed thousands of families with income challenges and become a vibrant part of the community’s proud culture, but now is the time to move beyond living in cinderblock walls with no central air or heating. Now is the time for building a new quality of life at Rosewood Courts featuring brand new modern apartments to serve even more low-income individuals. Plus, new Rosewood Courts will feature an exciting homeownership component–named Prospect Heights–targeting first-time, low-income families. By 2024, HACA expects twelve townhome style homes to be built for sale to qualified residents with income challenges.
Through HACA’s partnership with Austin Habitat for Humanity, qualified residents will have several opportunities to purchase their first home at Rosewood Courts. For over 35 years, Austin Habitat for Humanity has been helping hardworking families achieve their dream of homeownership, and they look forward to this opportunity to help families at Rosewood.
