For many, Thanksgiving isn’t complete without turkey, dressing and all the fixings. However, several HACA residents with limited resources are often unable to purchase a Thanksgiving meal.
For this reason, HACA partners with the Austin Apartment Association’s annual Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive to provide many HACA resident families with donated holiday dinners.
“We are proud to be in a long-standing partnership with the Austin Apartment Association to help some of our most at-risk resident families during this special time of year,” said HACA President and CEO Michael Gerber.
Each food pack includes a 12-pound turkey, 10 pounds of potatoes, stuffing, yams, corn, green beans, rolls, flour, sugar, beans, rice and fruit – the items necessary for a family of five to cook and eat a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at home.
Thanks to the Austin Apartment Association, a local nonprofit trade association whose membership includes property owners, management companies and products and services vendors, HACA has provided holiday meals to families in need for more than 25 years.
Since its inception in 1986, Austin Apartment Association’s food drive has raised more than $690,000 and fed more than 70,300 central Texans.
